Evangelism Trip Lobonok, Moli, Pageri, Karpeto, Loa, Sindiru, Sudan
In July, 2004 Pastor Jackson Abari and his 9 person evangelism team traveled east to Lobonok, Moli, Pageri, Karpeto, Loa, and Sindiru, Sudan. The team left Yei, Sudan on July 12 and returned on July 30. It took the team a long time to get to Lobonok. They had to travel southeast to Gulu, Uganda first to avoid LRA rebel activity. After reaching Gulu they joined a military convey escort north to Nimule.
The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:
| Town | Indicated Decisions for Christ |
|---|---|
| Lobonok | 3,600 |
| Moli | 2,000 |
| Pageri | 1,260 |
| Karpeto | 910 |
| Loa | 890 |
| Sindiru | 450 |
| Total | 9,110 |
Approximately 50% of the new believers had been animists, and 10% had been Muslims. The population of Lobonok is over 100,000 people. The JESUS Film was shown in the Bari and Madi (Loa and Pageri) languages to mainly the Bari and Madi tribes. One new Presbyterian church was planted in Lobonok. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the new Presbyterian church, the Episcopal Church of Sudan, and the Sudan Pentecostal Church. A total of 300 bibles were distributed with 200 bibles in Bari and 100 in Madi.
Due to the deaths of many children and because of the lack of any health services in this area, Bishop Taban is starting a new hospital clinic in Lobonok in January 2005. The people of Lobonok asked the team why this area is forgotten. Be it physical or spiritual needs this area feels forgotten. However, God did many miracles during the teams visit as many sick people were healed after the team prayed for them.
