Evangelism Trip Moyo and Adjumani, Uganda
In July, 2004 Pastor Jackson Yemba and his 14 person evangelism team traveled southeast to Moyo and Adjumani, Uganda. The team left Yei, Sudan on July 12 and returned on July 30.
The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:
| Town | Indicated Decisions for Christ |
|---|---|
| Adjumani Town | 4,100 |
| Moyo Town | 3,900 |
| Mire Camp 1 | 800 |
| Mire Camp 2 | 450 |
| Alere Camp 1 | 980 |
| Alere Camp 2 | 1,600 |
| Alere Camp 3 | 720 |
| Total | 12,550 |
Approximately 35% of the new believers had been animists, and 3% had been Muslims. The JESUS Film was shown in the Bari, Dinka, and Madi languages to various tribes.
The team reported that many of the people who accepted Christ during our May, 2003 evangelism trip are growing in Christ. No new churches are being planted on our Ugandan trips because the evangelical churches are very cooperative and ready to look after the new believers. However, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Sudan will be working alongside the existing churches in Alere. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Church of Uganda Revival Group, African Inland Church, and the Pentecostal Church. A total of 300 bibles were distributed in the Bari, Dinka, and Madi languages.
This was actually our evangelism teams third visit to the Moyo/Adjumani area. On this trip our teams were told an interesting story. During our May, 2003 trip, some Lords Resistance Army (LRA) soldiers had been spying in one camp while our team was showing the JESUS Film. They watched the entire film and some of them made a decision for Christ. They went back to their LRA camp in the bush and secretly told some other soldiers about their decision for Christ. Seven of them carefully planned their escape and gave themselves up to the Ugandan Defense Forces (UDF). They told the UDF that they had accepted Christ, and they confessed to all the evil things that they had done. After one month the government let them go free.
