Evangelism Trip Bira, Ikotos, Kiyala, Lobira, and Chuku, Sudan
In September, 2004 Evangelist Sebastian Duku and his 9 person evangelism team traveled southeast into Uganda and then north to Ikotos, Sudan. The team left Yei, Sudan on September 15 and returned on October 12. The team drove for 3 days to get to Ikotos. They drove from Sudan to Arua, Gulu, and Kitgum, Uganda before they crossed the border back into Sudan to drive north to Ikotos. From Gulu to Kitgum to the Sudan border the team went with a military escort to avoid attack by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). There is a daily military escort provided by the Uganda army.
The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:
| Town | Indicated Decisions for Christ |
| Bira | 700 |
| Ikotos | 350 |
| Kiyala | 400 |
| Lobira | 550 |
| Chuku | 270 |
| Total | 2,270 |
Approximately 80% of the new believers had been animists. The JESUS Film was shown in the Acholi (with translation into Lotuko) language to the Acholi, Lotuko, Lopit, and Dingdinka tribes. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the African Inland Church and the Episcopal Church of Sudan. A total of 300 bibles were distributed with 200 bibles in Acholi, and 100 bibles in English.
This area of Sudan contains the largest percentage of unreached peoples in Sudan. The tribes are wild and men boast of killing. Our team faced a lot of difficulty in explaining to the people what it means to accept Christ. God showed his mighty power by healing the sick. Many were won to Christ through the film shows and the healing of the sick.
