Evangelism and Discipleship Training Trip Rumbek County North, Sudan
In December, 2004 Evangelist James Lual and his 19 person evangelism team traveled northwest to Nyangkot, Cueibet, Maper, Abirieu, Adol, and Yardong, Sudan. The team left Yei, Sudan on December 5 and returned on December 23.
The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:
| Location | Indicated Decisions for Christ |
|---|---|
| Nyangkot | 3,700 |
| Cueibet | 3,100 |
| Maper | 2,800 |
| Abirieu | 2,000 |
| Adol | 1,400 |
| Yardong | 950 |
| Total | 13,950 |
Approximately 60% of the new believers had been animists, and 15% had been Muslims. The JESUS Film was shown in the Dinka language to the Dinka, Nuer, and Balanda tribes. More than 90% of the viewers were of the Dinka tribe. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Episcopal Church of Sudan, the African Inland Church, and the Sudan Pentecostal Church. A total of 700 bibles were distributed in the Dinka language. After they heard and understood the gospel, many new believers burned their charms and symbols of witchcraft.
Our team visited several of the churches that were planted during previous evangelism trips. All of these churches are doing well. These newly planted churches chief complaint was on the need for more follow-up training and support for their church founded schools, especially for teacher training. We plan to do more follow-up training before the rainy season, but we have no funds to support the schools.
