Evangelism Trip Magwe, Atepi, Opari, Obbo, Palotaka, Sudan
In January, 2005 Evangelist Joseph Lokima and his 9 person evangelism team traveled south to Uganda and then north into territory controlled by the Lord’s Resistance Army(LRA). The team was provided a military escort to protect them from the LRA. They visited the Sudanese villages of Magwe, Atepi, Opari, Obbo, and Palotaka. The team left Yei, Sudan on January 12 and returned on February 4.
The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:
| Town | Indicated Decisions for Christ |
|---|---|
| Magwe | 1,100 |
| Atepi | 800 |
| Opari | 750 |
| Obbo | 920 |
| Palotaka | 2,450 |
| Total | 6,020 |
Approximately 70% of the new believers had been animists. The JESUS Film was shown in the Madi and Acholi languages to the Madi, Acholi, and Lotuko tribes. One new church was planted in Palotaka. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Episcopal Church of Sudan, and the African Inland Church. A total of 200 bibles were distributed in the Madi language. Many witchdoctors came to Christ during this evangelism trip. They threw away their charms and confessed Christ.
