Evangelism Trip Abwong, Sudan
In February, 2005 Evangelist Chol Deng and his 6 person evangelism team traveled northeast to Abwong, Sudan. Since this was such a long trip, our team used public transportation, and to lower the cost we sent only 7 evangelists. The team left Yei, Sudan on February 14 and returned on March 8. The team only worked within the Abwong Internal Displaced Persons Camps. The team visited 5 of those camps, and 9,600 people indicated decisions for Christ.
Approximately 65% of the new believers had been animists, and 10% had been Muslims. The JESUS Film was shown in the Dinka and Nuer languages to the Dinka Padang and Nuer tribes. Two new Presbyterian churches were planted. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the Episcopal Church of Sudan. A total of 100 bibles were distributed in the Dinka language.
