Evangelism Trip Kisangani, DRC
In February, 2005 Evangelist Balante Ababa and his 5 person evangelism team traveled 5 days southwest to Kisangani, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The team left Yei, Sudan on February 14 and returned on March 4. During the trip the team had some minor problems with Congolese militias. The JESUS Film was shown in the Lingala language.
The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:
| Town | Indicated Decisions for Christ |
|---|---|
| Kisangani Slums | 8,700 |
| Kisangani Muke | 1,400 |
| Dungu | 800 |
| Total | 10,900 |
Approximately 60% of the new believers had been animists. At least six Congolese tribes were reached during this trip including the Bazande and Mulendu.
This was a follow-up trip to previous visits to Dungu in April and September of 2004 and May of 2003. The team reported that the people (who had made decisions for Christ during the previous trips to Dungu) were doing very well.
Regarding follow-up, the new believers were handed over to the Community Evangelical Church of the Congo, and the Pentecostal Church of Congo. The evangelism team distributed 300 bibles in the Lingala language.
