Evangelism & Discipleship Training Trip Warrap, Achongchong, Ajiep, Pankot, Liethnam, Rumbek, Sudan
In August, 2005 Evangelist Thomas Bior and his 9 person evangelism team traveled to the Gogrial Area of Sudan. The team left Yei, Sudan on August 15 and returned on September 24.
The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:
| Village | Indicated Decisions for Christ |
|---|---|
| Warrap | 4,000 |
| Achongchong | 3,500 |
| Ajiep | 2,100 |
| Pankot | 1,800 |
| Liethnam | 1,200 |
| Rumbek | 350 |
| Total | 12,950 |
We have decided to permanently base one team in Liethnam. This will reduce travel expenses as we seek to spread the gospel in this area.
Approximately 60% of the new believers had been animists, and 7% had been Muslims. The JESUS Film was shown in the Dinka language to the Dinka tribe. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Sudan Pentecostal Church, and the Episcopal Church of Sudan. We hope to plant a church in Liethnam in the nearby future. A total of 400 New Testament bibles were distributed in the Dinka language.
Our team arrived in the Gogrial area during intertribal fighting. Our Jesus Film shows were able to bring the two groups together as they watched the film at night and attended preaching and teaching sessions during the day. So our team functioned as not only an evangelism team but also as a team of reconciliation. We thank God that our evangelists can be used as ministers of reconciliation between peoples who have been killing each other.
