Approximately 45% of the new believers had been animists, and 5% had been Muslims. The JESUS Film was shown in the Bari language to the Kakwa, Pojulu, and Kuku tribes. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the Sudan Pentecostal Church. A total of 600 bibles were distributed in the Bari language.
The team met many people who had returned home after being refugees in Uganda for many years. Approximately 30% of the decisions for Christ were recently returned refugees. Life for the refugees is difficult due to the lack of food and clean water.
During this trip there was much discipleship training. Two of the topics that our team taught on are listed below:
- The Way of the Cross Following Jesus seems easy enough at first, but it soon becomes apparent that being a committed disciple of Jesus involves far more than the initial decision to accept Christ. (Matt. 8:34-38, 10:32-35, 16:24-26, 20:17-28; Luke 9:23-25, 16:13; John 12:25, 26, 13:1-20), and
- Counting the Cost of Following Jesus (Matt. 19:20, Mark 10:21, Luke 14:28,33, 18:22)
