Evangelism and Discipleship Training Trip – Ajio, Mangalotore, Livolo, Lire, Kala, Dongoro, Wuji, Sudan

Click for locator map...In July, 2007 Pastor Atansio Biaja and his 9 person evangelism team traveled southeast to Ajio, Mangalotore, Livolo, Lire, Kala, Dongoro, and Wuji, Sudan. The team left Yei, Sudan on July 10 and returned on August 5.

The results of what God did through the evangelism team are listed below:

Approximately 40% of the new believers had been animists, and 3% had been Muslims. The JESUS Film was shown in the Bari language to mainly the Kuku tribe. Follow-up of the new believers will be handled by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Episcopal Church of Sudan, the African Inland Church, and the Sudan Pentecostal Church. A total of 500 bibles were distributed in the Bari language.

Discipleship follow-up training was conducted on “Overcoming Sin.” The following themes and verses were used in this teaching:

  1. The truth has set us free (John 8:32).
  2. By nature we are all slaves to sin, but Jesus has set us free (John 8:34-36).
  3. A believer can overcome sin because he is a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17).
  4. God has given us all we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).
  5. God requires you to work out your salvation in every area of life (Philippians 2:12).
  6. God works in you. You can’t do it alone. (Philippians 2:13).
  7. God is able to give you grace to overcome any sin (2 Corinthians 9:8).
  8. We are being transformed more and more into the likeness of Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:18).
  9. You must keep working at breaking sinful habits and developing new and godly ways (Ephesians 4:22-24).
  10. Like a runner in a race, keep pressing on until you have gained the victory (Philippians 3:12-14).
  11. Do not keep on dwelling on past failures and do not get discouraged and give up after you have failed (Philippians 3:13-14).
  12. Get rid of everything that might hinder you in your walk with Jesus (Hebrews 12:1).
  13. One who is saved by grace must no longer serve sin. You must keep working at overcoming sin and use your body to serve only the Lord (Romans 6:11-22).
  14. Do not be mastered by any sin (1 Corinthians 6:12).
  15. The Holy Spirit, dwelling in us, enables us to overcome sin (Romans 8:9-13).
  16. Drunkards, idolaters, and others trapped in a life of sin can overcome sin by God’s power and grace (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
  17. Paul, Titus, and others were set free from the power of sin because God gave them victory through the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:3-7).
  18. Use the infallible word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
  19. A true Christian will not live in sin (1 John 3:6).
  20. Jude wrote three important commands for us (Jude 20-21).
